Qualifying analysis – Webber left wounded and wondering

For the four remaining title contenders, qualifying for this weekend’s title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a fraught affair. Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel was the quickest when it counted, taking pole position for the tenth time this season, but his team mate Mark Webber seemed to crumble under the pressure, managing just fifth on the grid. In between were the Red Bull duo’s remaining championship rivals McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, as well as 2009 title holder Jenson Button in the second MP4-25. Five-place grid penalty for Kobayashi

BMW Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi has been handed a five-place grid penalty for Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix by the Budapest race stewards, after he failed to enter the FIA garage to be weighed during qualifying on Saturday.

During practice and qualifying cars are called in at random to be weighed to ensure that they comply with minimum weight requirements (620kg).

Race – Webber untouchable at Silverstone

Mark Webber beat his Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel into the first corner and never looked back in Sunday’s British Grand Prix. Vettel then dropped to the back of the field with a puncture, leaving McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton as Webber’s only serious challenger.

Nico Rosberg was an excellent third for Mercedes GP, with Jenson Button fourth for McLaren after a safety-car period aided his recovery from 14th on the grid….
