Final practice – Red Bull show their hand

Posted by F1 news admin under Formula-1 news

As many of their rivals suspected they would, Red Bull found a little bit more pace in Saturday afternoon’s final practice session in Abu Dhabi, and Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber set the fastest times of the weekend. The German lapped in 1m 40.696s, and the Australian was just 0.133s adrift with 1m 40.829s.

Lewis Hamilton was unable to match yesterday’s 1m 40.888s but was third fastest for McLaren on 1m 41.280s…

Four men could become world champion in Abu Dhabi this weekend. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has only an outside chance, but Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are all real contenders

Red Bull’s Mark Webber is looking forward to some relaxation in Formula One’s traditional summer break, spending some time with his dogs and avoiding planes and hotel rooms. Alonso: Ferrari must remain calm for final push

Posted by F1 news admin under Formula-1 news

The dark days following last month’s British Grand Prix saw Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso fall almost 50 points off the championship lead. Now he is riding high, just 20 shy of standings leader Mark Webber, and fresh from his second podium in as many races in Hungary, the Spaniard believes the title is still firmly in his sights.

Having just taken his fourth pole position in a row, there is no doubting Sebastian Vettel’s one-lap performance. While it’s true that he’s found it more difficult to convert those front-row starts into race wins, Vettel is confident that should all change in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Considering the lead he had on Saturday over his team mate Mark Webber and the two Ferraris, few would disagree

Renault’s Robert Kubica and Force India’s Adrian Sutil on their pit-lane collision; Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel on his drive-through penalty; Williams’ Rubens Barrichello and Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher on their close encounter; and Mark Webber on taking his fourth win of the season in Red Bull’s 100th Grand Prix. All 24 drivers, and senior team personnel, report back on Sunday’s race

Practice Two – Alonso ahead at Hockenheim

Posted by F1 news admin under Formula-1 news

A pattern finally began to emerge as the track dried out at Hockenheim on Friday afternoon, though conditions were still greasy and challenging.

Fernando Alonso pushed Ferrari to the fore with a lap of 1m 16.265s, but Sebastian Vettel was right on his tail for Red Bull with 1m 16.294s and their respective team mates Felipe Massa and Mark Webber were in touch with 1m 16.438s and 1m 16.585s. Just for good measure, the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were also in the zone, with 1m 16.827s and 1m 16.971s apiece.
