Mark Webber Q&A: Consistency now critical to title race

Posted by F1 news admin under Formula-1 news

It was a rainy day for a birthday, but that is what you sometimes get in Belgium. A huge cake from his Red Bull team compensated at least partially for the monsoon-like conditions. Regardless, Mark Webber leads the championship and is in relaxed frame of mind going into this weekend’s Grand Prix. The RB6 may not have featured highly on the Friday timesheets, but Sunday’s a different matter and Webber would love to add a prestigious Spa win to his trophy cabinet – even if he admits he now has the championship’s long game in mind

Button prepares to tackle London Triathlon challenge

Posted by F1 news admin under Formula-1 news

With a three-week break between races, you’d expect most drivers to hang up their race suits and take some well-earned rest and relaxation ahead of the season’s final push. McLaren’s Jenson Button has other ideas, however, and this weekend will take part in the world famous London Triathlon.

The annual event, which takes place over Saturday and Sunday, attracts 11,000 entrants making it the largest triathlon in the world. It encompasses a demanding 1500-metre swim, a 40-kilometre bike ride and a 10-kilometre run. Button – a regular triathlon competitor – took part in the event last year and impressively finished second in his age category.

Having just taken his fourth pole position in a row, there is no doubting Sebastian Vettel’s one-lap performance. While it’s true that he’s found it more difficult to convert those front-row starts into race wins, Vettel is confident that should all change in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Considering the lead he had on Saturday over his team mate Mark Webber and the two Ferraris, few would disagree
